The Great Babysitting Caper Empty
PostSubject: The Great Babysitting Caper   The Great Babysitting Caper I_icon_minitimeTue Jun 26, 2012 3:29 am

It had been a week since Dia returned to the temple with the Hutt. She remembered her mediative trance triggering she consciousness to return, surface just as two faces of the Jedi she knew from around the temple peered over her and carried her to the sophisticated medical wing to immerse her in the kolto tanks which would heal her far faster then she could do for herself. She remembered waking up and before being able to eat being called to the council chamber where she was asked to explain her actions to the council members. They didn’t totally approve with her unorthodox methods especially when she glazed over the events with the Immortal and subsequent... well, explosion which may have possibly endangered the lives of innocent bystanders. They has spoken to her in firm but concerned voices, reminding her of the Jedi code and urging her to be more mindful in the future. Only Master Yoda had remained silent during the whole conversation and Dia mostly kept her gaze on him. She knew she shouldn’t have a bias but Master Yoda was her favourite, he’d taught her as a youngling and Dia always admired that he was able to keep his sense of humour and freedom of personality despite being tasked with a grave purpose within the order. She often thought they were similar in that respect, both were not bogged down in the image of what a Jedi should be rather being the Jedi they were.

After that she was mostly left alone, of course her friends wanted a more in depth retelling of the story and whilst they’d expressed awe at her being able to go toe-to-toe with the Immortal, who was apparently a big name in the bounty game, they also expressed reservation and in the end she’d simply refused to talk about it any longer so bored with the reaction she got. Instead she’d turned inwards, mediating for hours to construct a new lightsabre. It took her less time then it did when she originally made one but it was still an intricate task. In a moment of pure genius, or so she thought, she’d retrieved the shrapnel she’d extracted from her leg, cut it down to size and added it to the hilt. Now wherever she went, she’d have a reminder of the Immortal and how close to death he’d brought her. Plus the added satisfaction of being able to stroke a little part of him whenever the fancy took her, oh, that thought made her smile.

As for the Immortal himself there was no sign when her ship had landed and quite frankly she was surprised to find the Hutt alive, terrified but alive in its hold. Guess her bravery did earn her some brownie points after all. She had no idea what happened to him after he left her care, nor did she care – her part in his life was over, thankfully. Maybe the Immortal was out there somewhere sneaking into his cell to end his lump of an existence? The Immortal had left her a note which she pinned to the wall of her room, would he find her for that drink? She doubted he was the kind of being who didn’t keep his word once he made it. Whenever she took a break from her construction and eat she’d done research on him, out of curiosity she’d told herself. There wasn’t a lot on him in the archives but it seemed several Jedi throughout the times faced an opponent who called themselves the same name and none of them came off well. Was he truly immortal? She’d have to ask him over that drink.

On the seventh day she ventured out of the temple, her newly constructed lightsabre swinging at her hip merrily. It wasn’t her choice to leave; the order had changed her with a new mission of taking four younglings to the Dantoonie temple for some reason or other. She hadn’t really pay attention, she found children exhausting and a part of her wondered if this was some sort of sick punishment thought up by the council in response to the Nar Shadaa incident. She’d ushered the kids on board the large passenger ship with as much false cheer as she could muster and then basically dumped them in the entertainment sector (the whole reason she’d chosen a passenger ship). She’d sat down watching them with disinterest; her feet crossed on the chair next to her and lamented, no chance of meeting the Immortal here.

It had been a productive week for the Immortal. It was true that he had lost out on Bhuja the Hutt, the second bounty he had ever failed to collect, but he had made good on two others here on the Republic capital while he had waited. Between stalking victims, and ending their lives, his eyes had remained focused on the Temple. Dia Olan was still within, and she owed him far more than he owed her. When someone owed the Immortal, he made sure they did not have to wait long for him to collect. It was easy for him to place sensor drones that watched the temple, and almost as easy for him to infiltrate it himself. It was not his first time within the Temple, for he had tracked a Jedi target through the temple some three hundred years ago, and he doubted that it would be his last.

When the Jedi Knight was moving again, so too was he. It was simple for him to book transport upon the same ship as she, and transmit instructions for his droid to follow at a distance in his ship. He was large, baggy clothing and a deep hood which hid who he was from sight, managing to squash his bulk down and fold in upon himself, managing to appear something similar to a Besalisk. The ability to not be the Immortal when he needed to be was one that he had cultivated very carefully, as it was just as important to him as any other skill he had learned.

As she sat watching the children, he lowered his bulky and now rather awkward frame into the seat near her own, holding out a drink. The hand that extended from the sleeve of his robe clearly did not belong to the race he was impersonating, and he doubted that she would have any trouble placing it as his. That point was rendered moot when he whispered to her. There was no mistaking his voice. "A drink?"

Dia was smiling even before she glanced down to the hand offering her the drink or before she heard the deep voice address her, she knew it was him already by the sheer aura of menace which had suddenly broken through into her thoughts the moment he sat down. She took the drink casually from his hand and took her feet off the seat, an invitation for him to join her at her table or was she merely righting herself in case another battle ensued? Let him think whatever he wanted Dia was just happy to see him.

“Thank the Force, I’ve been so bored.” She leaned closer peering at him inside of his hood, “Whatever are you doing in there?” She raised a brow and grinned faintly. Her tone light and only a little teasing as she sat back once more, not really expecting nor needing an answer. “ I've been doing some research on you. You know according to the archives there have been at least three other Jedi who fought a being known as the Immortal over the years.” She took a sip of her drink and then grinned again, now she was most certainly playfully teasing him, “What a coincidence, hey?”

She cast a quick glance towards the younglings, checking on them and realised that the ship had dropped out of hyperspace. This caused her eyebrows to arch again delicately but then no general alarm sounded and she reasoned it was best not to make anything of it until something was had be made of. She glanced back to the Immortal, genuinely pleased to see him again and placed her new constructed lightsabre with her free hand every so gently on the tabletop, clearly amused by the gesture for some reason probably unknown to him for now. “What’s new with the galaxies most fear Bounty Hunter then?”

"Your research is flawed," he says softly, as he set his drink down next to her own. He too had noticed the ship drop out of hyperspace, and had dismissed the event. He was the Immortal, he had nothing to fear. "Seven Jedi have crossed me, and you are only the second to survive." His eyes dropped to her new lightsaber, and he took in its shape and form. He noticed the differences between this handle and the one she had used against him previously. He did notice that shrapnel that had once been his armor was used in its construction, and he was more than happy to give her that trophy. She had done well, wounding him greater than he had been in many years. It also let him know that she was carrying a piece of him with her always, and for reasons he could not really understand, he liked that.

"It is nice to see you again." It was no lie, and yet he was surprised by the words as soon as they had left his mouth. Why had he said that? "Your brood of children makes you far less appealing, however." It was not the friendliest of barbs, but there was no true malice in what he had said. He lifted his drink once more, taking a sip from it now. While the drink he had chosen for her was both mild and a common favorite among twi'leks, his drink would burn her throat and cause great discomfort and dizziness. It was not entirely comfortable on his throat either, but its combination of pleasant taste and zingy kick meant he would endure the few moments it took for his throat to heal the damage of the drink.

Dia’s eyes lit up at his admission and she leaned across the table covering the distance between them with a fluid bow of her appealing figure, her elbow placed lightly on the surface and her fingers stroking her cheek. A lovely smile danced across her lips and her tone dropped, adopted a tale tell tone which dripped with flirtation, “I shall be sure to update the file as soon as I return.” She allowed her gaze to travel down his body, subtly recalling the definition of his body to mind and then flicked back up to his face, “Can’t have the records being wrong, now can we?”

The moment ended and she was leaning back, completely relaxed again in her chair as she sipped the drink he’d chosen for her. It was a common among her people and a fair enough choice for him to make on her behalf after all how was he to know she preferred something with a little more kick to it. She licked her lips lightly, taking her time to savour every last drop which lingered in her mouth, perhaps the Immortal himself was the kick she needed today and caused her to enjoy the concoction more then she ever could remember doing before. Secretly, she thought it was very nice to see him too.

“They are my… chastisement?” She chuckled faintly and flicked her eyes to the younglings as they played, oblivious to anything other then their own entertainment. “I believe it’s the council’s way of gently reminding me I am meant to uphold a certain standard of behaviour when out in the galaxy. Our recent adventure raised a few brows at the Temple.” She laughed again, genuine amusement danced to and fro in her eyes as she made her own confession to him, “You see my methods are a little… unorthodox for the Jedi.”

"Our recent activity raised eyebrows across the galaxy." His words were sincere, the actions of the Immortal had made galactic news over the Holo-net. The damage they had caused was running into the hundreds of thousands of credits to repair, but in his long lifetime that was a relatively small drop in the ocean. How would she had felt, being a part of that, he wondered? Was that why she seemed so glad to see him now? "And it was your unorthodox methods that saved your life."

Unlike the twi'lek with him, the Immortals hearing was sensitive enough to note the stilling of all engines, and the sounds of other ships coupling with their transport. An unscheduled pick up most likely, but it never hurt for him to be prepared. Despite lacking his customary armor that made him a mobile weapons platform, he had thousands of years experience in killing for a living. None of the strange sounds he heard were cause for alarm for him. Not yet.

"I prefer the unorthodox, beautiful Dia Olan Jedi Knight. You fared better against me than most ever have. You caught me by surprise more times than I care to admit." For so many years, the only talking the Immortal had done had been short, sharp instructions to his droids. Days could pass in complete silence. For the first time in centuries, the Immortal was not just talking, he was conversing, and once the words had started, they formed a flow that was difficult to stop. "Your grace impresses me, and your beauty..." his voice trailed off, as he realised where that train of conversation was taking him, and he took another sip of his drink to shut himself up. What was she doing to him, that made him speak so? Was it some trick of the Force, of was it something of himself, some deep longing that he had never acknowledged?

“...my beauty?” Again her lips twitched into her cheshire smile as she playfully prompted him to continue. She was rather enjoying the effect she was having on the man. She’d been paid similar compliments before on many worlds but never had they meant quite as much as they did coming from this hardened being. “If it helps, I have no problem being as unorthodox around you as you’d like, Immortal.” She leant forward again and lowered her voice to a whisper and wondering if she could fluster him at all said, “I’m tempted to dance for you again. I could show you the one I reserve only for special occasions.” She perked her brow and chuckled under her breath as she propositioned the being who almost killed her without so much as batting an eyelid.

Before she could gauge his reaction the mood shifted. One moment her smile was there and the next it was gone without a trace. She glanced sideways towards the children, her body coiled tense and the Immortal would know from experience she was now ready to strike at a moments notice. The Force curled around her, blanketed her and extended her senses beyond the room becoming her eyes and ears in the galaxy. Its voice whispered in her ear, hushed tones of warning, spiking her adrenalin and preparing her body for battle. “Danger.” She was out of her chair without a second thought. Flirtatious conversations with the Immortal gone from her mind in an instant, all that mattered was the mission, the protection of the children from whatever danger she was sensing. Three younglings still played but the fourth, the eldest human male stood biting his thumb nervously almost as if he’d sensed it too.

Dia knelt before him and where others might have been softer to the child, chosen to comfort him in his moments of fear Dia didn’t have the time to placate to him. She was a practical sort, what the boy needed was instructions and from that he would find his strength. “Take the others back to your room and lock the door. If anyone except for myself… or my companion try to get in, hide.” She tilted his chin back sharply and pointed to the air vents which spanned the ship and back, “Wait until I come find you. You are responsible for the others now, if you are discovered for any reason, Do. Not. let them resist. Understand?” The boy shivered, his eyes wide still gazing above at the ventilation system and Dia shook his shoulders once sharply, forcing him to return to the moment and focus on her. “Do you understand me?” He swallowed and nodded; Dia squeezed his shoulders and offered the faintest of smiles allowing herself the luxury of being maternal for the barest of moments, if only to ensure the boys resolve would steel against his fear. “This is your first mission, you’re well on the way to becoming a Jedi. Now go on.”

The other children had noticed the exchange, the boy called to them, rallied to his side and they were away like the uniformed scattering of a frightened flock of birds. Dia stood fluidly, now they were taken care of she was free to find out what the danger was. She shot an easy grin towards the Immortal, twirling her lightsabre in her hand once and clipping it to her belt, “Rain check on the rest of that drink… and dance. It’s time to be unorthodox again.” She winked, smiling casually and walked off with her usual cnfidence towards the bridge determined to find out what spoiled her fun today.

As soon as Dia was moving towards her little wards, the Immortal was rising from his seat. Sounds he could explain away to himself, but for the Jedi to sense something amiss was not a good sign. As she spoke to the eldest of her charges, he made quick sure that all of the weapons concealed into his robe or even within his body were ready for battle. He heard every word she spoke to the child, and shook his head. The words offered strength and comfort if not truth. It was good she sent them away, he would be unable to do what he needed to with them underfoot.

He seemed far more relaxed when she returned. It was in his stance, the way his hood no longer hid his face, the faint smile on his lips. The crowds did not matter now, the children did not matter. Now it was time for the Hunt to begin again, these were the dance steps the Immortal knew well. As she made way towards the bridge, the Immortal fell into step behind her. They must have made an odd pair, the slight Jedi and the massive cloaked figure following her. The lightsaber on her belt and the robes she wore gave her an air of authority, while the Immortal exuded an air of menace that bordered on the tangible. It would soon be time to kill once more, and after spending hours cramped in the confines of a passenger ship, he was eagerly looking forward to the unorthodox methods Dia might use now.

As Dia made her way to the turbo lift she seemed perfectly at ease, just another passenger going for a stroll aboard the great liner despite her less then regulation company which followed her in tow. She was a picture of serenity and an alluring one at that, any passengers whose nerves got a start upon sighting the imposing Immortal were instantly calmed when their eyes flicked down to the form of the young Jedi who lead him with seeming authority. Outward appearances aside, Dia’s mind was a flurry of action. If you looked carefully you could see her eyes skimming every face, taking in every feature to be able to recall later. Had any of the passengers been force sensitive they would have felt her probe and peer, not only at themselves but at the ship which swallowed them.

The lift opened and Dia slipped into like the whispering of a breeze and Immortal still at her back. As the door closed again she allowed herself the luxury of chewing on her lip, mulling over everything she’d taken in within the last few moments out aloud, more for her own benefit then the Immortals. ”The ship has stopped.” She tossed her chin to the Immortal, letting him in on a private bit of information, “It wasn’t meant too, I checked, wanted to know exactly how long I would be paired with the younglings.”
“Why does a ship stop when it’s not scheduled too? There is only three reasons. The first and most obvious, engine trouble, if that was case though the Captain would have informed his passengers of the delay. Responding to an emergency signal? In light speed a ship like this would be unable to pick up a transmission of that type. We’re left with only one option left, because someone brought us here deliberately. The question now is why? A ship was docked with us…”

Her train of verbalised through broke off a moment as the speakers crackled into life, “Can all passengers please return to their quarters immediately. We’re currently experiencing an engine malfunction. Repeat all passengers are to proceed directly to their quarters and remain there until further instructions.”

Dia perked a brow and went to speak again but was interrupted once again, “All ships hands to food hall 3, all ships hands to food hall 3.”

Dia waited a moment for any further announcements and then spoke again tossing another easy grin to the Immortal. “Well my moneys on pirates, how about you?”

Like the shade of Death itself, the Immortal silently followed in the Jedi's path. Where she was a figure of compassion, grace and calm, he was a solemn promise of the chaos that was to come. It has been difficult for him to step outside of his usual self and become something vaguely warm and life like once more, and now his familiar mantle settled around his shoulders like a comforting blanket. Surprisingly lithe for something his size, he slipped into the lift after Dia, listening as she verbalized her internal thoughts.

She turned his way with a grin and a question, and his own lips held a sinister grin of their own. One long arm slipped out from his robe, and from within the fibrous tendrils that made up his musculature, the long barrel of a blaster carbine began to slide out. "Pirates," he whispered softly in agreement. Without his usual armor and armaments, this was not going to be the Immortals finest work, but he would attack it with a relish that more than made up for his lack of finesse. The little Jedi was his, and he took this little ship as his own too, for as long as he was upon it, and woe to those who dared to try and take what the Immortal considered his own.

"Level three, was it?"

Dia nodded, the faintest trace of a grin gracing her lips as the Immortal sent the turbo lift shooting towards their desired location. Once again her mood didn't match the apparently severity of the situation but, darn it all, a small voice inside was secretly kicking its heels together in playful delight that apparently she was going to get the opportunity to work with the Immortal rather than square off against him once more. For some reason he greatly aroused her... curiosity. Unlike other Jedi and most assuredly unbeknownst to them, every once in a while Dia had been known to indulge in the odd curiosity that crossed her path. Dia certainly wasn't exactly planning anything of the sort with the man but who knew where the Force would guide her in the future. Would the Immortal prove to be more than a deadly distraction? Only time would tell and she had a feeling so would the way she handled herself in the near future.

However, in the moment though her thoughts were far from anything so tantalisingly salacious. In the few seconds it took to get to their new locale Dia quietened her mind and under the Immortals watchful eyes transformed from the flirtatious Twi’lek dancer into a hardened Jedi Knight once more. She unburdened herself of her outermost layer, dropping the cloak to the floor to free her movements and as a pleasant side effect revealed to the hunter fully her luscious curves once more. Her back straightened, her limbs loosened, ready to spring at a moment’s notice. Her expression was unreadable, but mind raced as it calculated the odds, recalled schematics of the ship and estimated potential variables which would hinder her progress. The biggest of those being the Immortal himself,. Dia knew in an instant that whilst she’d endeavour to disable and subdue the threat he’d carve through it like starving man eating a Sunday roast.

She clucked her tongue and as the doors opened, inspiration hit. Before he could exit her hand shot out, blocking his path. “I do believe I’d like to hire your services… “Her eyes danced with a mixture of apprehension and exhilaration as she gazed up at him, her tone held the same playfulness and confident determination it had when they first met. “You see, I've run into a bit of a situation. I need to make this ship continue its journey. I need the leader of the pirates neutralised but not killed, same for his crew.” She tiled her head and withdrew her hand, twirling her lightsabre casually, with each moment the situation would invariably be growing worse for them but she refused to rush this moment and a part of her suspected he didn't want too either.

“Despite all of that being said though, I know I need to make it worth your while so I'll tell you what; perhaps we could make a game of it? If I disable more bad guys then you, you don’t charge me for your services upon our arrival.” She smiled slowly and arched a brow, almost daring him to fight his nature, “If you win, then….” She tilted her head, wondering what he would demand in return. “… What do men like you yearn for? I know being in my company whilst staging epic heroics should be enough but really you’d deserve some compensation, so, name your price.”

The hum of the turbolift droned on, drowning out the sounds he had heard coming from the bridge. His hearing was strong enough that he had heard the soft little foot falls of Dia's children racing for their rooms, their panicked breathing, and when they had been closer, the beating of the fragile little hearts. Despite the fact that most of his race were quite passive, it seemed as if the natural gifts of his species were almost perfectly tailored to his new life. He heard every word Dia spoke, every rustle of her clothing, every hitch in her breath. She was calm, and that was good. She would be ready.

"A game?" Did she truly think that she could keep pace with him? She had all the advantages that the Force gave a Jedi, but he had been doing this job for a long time now, and had centuries of experience at it. The Immortal could tear his way through a whole fleet of pirates. Ah, but the Jedi had shown herself to be resourceful. Perhaps there would be more of a challenge to this than he had anticipated. What tricks did she have up her sleeve, he wondered. Even without his custom armor, the Immortal was one of the greatest threats on the space lanes. He was eager to see what Dia could bring to the experience.

She had asked that he not kill the Captain, and he could see the value in that. The rest of them, however? "I make no promises, Dia Olan Jedi Knight, but I will not go in with the intent of mindless slaughter." He did not expect many of his adversaries to live, and he hoped that would not be too scarring for the Jedi. After all, in these rough times, death was a constant threat on the space lanes, and by attacking their ship, the pirates had given away their chance at life. Let them see how many would be lucky enough to still have theirs by the time this was all over.

When his hands came out from his robe once more, each held a highly modified blaster pistol. The time for talking would be over soon, the turbolift nearing its destination. Soon the air would be filled with blaster fire, the acrid smell of ozone and the screams of the wounded and cowardly. The Hunt was upon him, all that he had to live for now, and he was prepared.

Dia’s gaze flicked between his weapons and the Immortal’s face searching it for a moment before she finally nodded. “I guess that’s good enough.” Before she finished speaking she’d spun on her feet and exited the lift making her way with her usual confident stride and sway of her hips to food hall 3. Her thinking was to firstly free the crew of the ship; many hands make light work after all. With the extra men they’d be able to recapture and hold the bridge, which gave them an advantage as they could re-establish communications with the outside thus calling for assistance and be able to defend themselves if a fire fight did break out.

Her back flattened against the wall as she peaked into the room. She was leaning back against the wall within a second but somehow had a full scope of the situation inside. The members of the crew had been lined up on their knees along the far wall, a number of guards were present most lingering about either strolling lazily along the row or sitting at the tables. Clearly they were not expecting any resistance and normally they probably would've been right in that assumption. They’d hit the ship methodically, more the likely having some sort of inside help in doing so but unluckily for them they obviously didn't plan on having a Jedi and a feared bounty hunter on board.

Dia took a deep breath and then stepped wholly into the doorway, her hand moving with a sharp flick as she overturned one of the tables causing it to land with a heavy thud in front of the crew to shield them. The pirates obviously startled turned swiftly towards her, blasters and pistols already raised and firing several rounds in her general direction. Her hand flicked again, sending one careening into another and then into the wall whilst simultaneously her lightsabre came to light and batted the bolts away. Distracted as she was she managed to shoot the Immortal a grin as he flew past her into battle, “Two.”

Let the Jedi play her little game. He even let her lead the way into the room. After all, ladies first and all of that. He slipped a small grappling gun out of his robe, and fired into the room. The magnetic grapple connected to the far wall, and the Immortal let his feet leave the ground as he enabled retraction. It jerked his body through the door way, straight past the young Jedi, who confidently called out her score as he whizzed passed her. Shots were fired wildly, one even managing to strike him, and while the wound burned and then began to itch, it was no where near enough to stop him. And then he was upon them.

Up close and personal was how the Immortal liked to conduct the business end of his profession. He liked the feel of bone snapping under his feet, or that echoing pop as he tore a shoulder out of joint. The screams of pain that filled the air were melodious to his ears, the special kind of music that he was a maestro in creating, a symphony of suffering that danced to his whim. He was shot again, several times, but that was a risk he had anticipated. Even unarmored it would take a hail of blaster fire to take him down, and while they wasted their time firing at him, he laid waste to the group.

One of them was smart enough to drop his blaster and try to engage him in the frantic melee. Two quick jabs were followed by a powerful kick. The Immortal almost admired the pirates spirit. He blocked both jabs easily, and when the kick came in, he was prepared for it. He caught the heavily booted foot in both hands, and with a wrench of his body hurled the pirate through the air straight towards Dia. Give her something to amuse herself with.

Caught as they were between the beautiful and dangerous Jedi knight and the whirlwind of destruction that was the Immortal, the pirates were left with very little choice. One of them dropped to his knees, arms thrown in the air as he yelled out his surrender, which was interrupted half way through by the Immortals boot. It connected with the pirates face, pushing him back and pinning his head to the wall. If he pushed much harder, the Immortal would shatter the mans skull like a ripe melon, but he had not failed in his arrangement with Dia yet, and he was not going to start now. Casually leaning on the foot that still pressed firmly to the pirates face, he looked back towards Dia to see how she was faring with the last of the resistance.

"Nine."

As the Immortal shifted his gaze back to Dia he’d be greeted by a mesmerising site. Dia was a graceful dancer when on stage but in battle she was a cut above. The hum of her blade was all the music she needed as moved with purpose, each placement of her feet that anchored the swing of the blade seemed more like steps from some intricate routine. The muscles ripped purple metallic, lekku caressing the small of her back. The few pirates she faced felt a shudder to their core as they faced a lethal combination; technical mastery in lightsaber combat and enthralling beauty. This was the Jedi, Dia.

The pirate the Immortal had flung so unceremoniously towards her before now lay knocked unconscious at her feet. Another two cowered in the corner, backs pressed to the wall clearly frightened to move. Dia’s movements stilled, her blade clipped to her belt once more swayed faintly and then too silenced. She did not respond as he spoke his count, her gaze shifted over her shoulder were a young male stood, small blaster pistol in quaking hand. The last pirate left standing.

Dia pivoted fluidly towards him, paying particular deliberately emphasis on the sway of her hips as she did. The boy’s lips shook as she lowered her chin a touch, their gaze locking and a heavy silence dragged lazily across the room. If the Immortal had seen a Jedi use the mind trick before he might have been surprised at what occurred next, instead of speaking in a clear confident manner Dia lowered her voice to a husky whisper, issuing her suggestions like one would to a lover.

“You don’t want to do that.”

“I… I don’t want to do that.” He replied, licking of his lips, pupils dilating as if he’d been exposed to some glorious drug.

“You want to drop the blaster.”

“I want to drop the blaster.” It dropped with a clatter he was oblivious too; his gaze was only for her.

“Take the others here, bind them and lock the room,” and then after the space of a heartbeat, “for me.”

“Yes, for you.”

Dia didn't need to wait to see if he would do as she asked; instead she turned once more, her strike slipping back into the same confident gait as she strode back towards the elevator. Next on her to-do list was to retake the bridge, she motioned to the crew who seemed to respond without her needing to direct orders. Some took the weapons from the defeated pirates and started to follow her, others clearly were staying to help the boy detain the pirates. Her gaze shifted to the Immortal and the corners of her lips curled into a little grin just for him, “Seven. I'm catching up.”

The boys mind was putty in her hand. Deep down, the Immortal knew that the power of the Force had something to do with that, and yet she affected him as easily as she did the boy, and he doubted that she used the same tricks there. As the boy gazed upon her with a devotion that shone through the confusion in his eyes, the bounty hunter felt an emotion that had laid dormant within him for a long time. Jealousy. He could take the body and tear him limb from limb, smear him across the walls, until there was nothing left able to gaze upon Dia Olan. He could slaughter his way across the ship; pirate, crew member and passenger alike, until there was none left to take her attention from him. He could keep her alone and to himself. But in doing so he would cause her to wither, to fail, to die.

Quashing the jealousy down until it barely registered was a far greater struggle for him than the battle in the room had been. His blaster burns already healing, the emotional strains were clinging far harder. That was part of why the beautiful Jedi had caught his attention in the first place, her ability to make him feel. He watched her glide out of the room, the crew members falling in place behind her. He fell into line behind them, letting the distance between them grow. Even from here he could hear their whispers, their rapid breathing, the beating of their little hearts. Wild, erratic, annoying. And yet, like an eye in the middle of the storm, there was Dia. Her heart beat barely elevated, her breathing calm and collected.

"Seven. I'm catching up."

She was good, very good, and with the restrictions she had placed on him, she may even be better than him. Only time would tell, and there were many potential victims on the road ahead.

PostSubject: Re: The Great Babysitting Caper   The Great Babysitting Caper I_icon_minitimeWed Jan 08, 2014 7:10 am

Dia spoke to the crowd quietly as they all proceeded down the hall gaining as much information as she could. Data helped her make choices, took away from the uncertainty and gave the illusion of control. She’d had to appear to be in total control of this situation now; she needed the crew to have steady hearts and form hands in order to recapture the ship.

Apparently someone on the bridge had been a plant, working for the pirates and had delivered the ship to the designated coordinates where the rest of the ‘fleet’ waited to pounce. The only people who remained on the bridge now were the Captain. Not one of them knew whether the main goal was merely to rob the passengers and take the cargo or if they can more sinister intentions of kidnapping and holding the ship at hostage in order to collect a large ransom. What they did now it appeared to only one ship of a similar size to their own which waited for them when they jumped out of hyperspace, consensus was that it would only carry one or two squadrons of fighters max, it was capable of carrying more but it wasn't a time of war and no one surely could have the resources at hand to maintain a upkeep of more.

Dia listened to all these comments and by the time they’d reached the next branch in the hallways she turned to the men, a serene smile on her lips. “We have two objectives, recapture the bridge and if necessary the engine room.” She moved to the side, as she did one of the vents above her jiggled on its hinges through the force and popped its grate, swinging open easily. “You five, make your way to the engineering. Hold the line until for me.” She arched a brow delicately as no one made a move; she could see them all calculating their own safety against anyone else’s and couldn't entirely blame them for it. She offered a slow smile to the apparent leader of this particular bunch, batting her eyelashes at him and letting the force slither against his mind and weaken his resistance to her seductive influence. “Come now, don’t be afraid – you shouldn't encounter any resistance, no knows you've been freed.”

With a curt nod he passed his blaster off to another and started to help them into the vent. With that taken care of Dia turned with a faint swish of her hips and a wink to the Immortal and took the remaining men with her towards the bridge. She had no intention of taking the vents just as she never considered sending the Immortal with the other group. She reasoned that logically she wanted to keep an eye on him to make sure he was behaving by the rules but in reality her heart whispered of a worry that he might disappear never to finish the drink they’d started together. Dia didn't’t want that to happen, she was growing to like the feeling of him at her back, the way her looked at her with a mysterious expression. He was a puzzle, a delicious forbidden tease that she was planning on unlocking and the thought kicked up her heart rate a notch, her fingers unconsciously stroking the shard of his armor she’d inset in her handle as gently as a lover caressed their mate.

The party came to a stop at the end of another hall as voices clearly were heard; Dia held a hand up and every one of the crew with them held their breath. A heartbeat later Dia turned the corner, her lightsaber already gone from her hand flung at the overhead lights to cause a shower of sparks and darkness to descend on the pirates who lingered below. As soon as she caught the handle of her weapon again she was down on one knee, instinctively, somehow knowing the Immortal would be there to finish the task. Sure he was pulling ahead in the number count but for now that couldn't be helped. She knelt bathed in the golden glow of her lightsaber, taking a moment to reinforce her determination.

The turbo lift button was pressed and as they waited Dia was torn between analyzing the pirate ship, now visible to them through one a grand view ports and studying the Immortal. To be honest the latter far interested her more than the former and she found as they waited at the entrance to the bridge she had to mentally remind herself to keep focused on the moment.

Bad, Dia, Bad...

The crew members were nothing. The gorgeous Jedi had sent a small group off on a fools errand to guard the engine room, although likely there would be no danger there as the pirates could control the ship from the bridge without any difficulties. At least it got them out from under foot. The second group fell to a hush as the beautiful woman signaled a stop, but the Immortal had heard what she had far earlier. There contingent ahead was small, half a dozen at the most. Plans were already filtering through his mind, and as she shot into the hallway, he was only half a step behind her.

The shower of sparks alarmed them, and the glow of the lightsaber barely illuminated them, but the Immortal already had enough to go on. His cloak billowed out behind him as he raced down the hall, all they would see was a crouching Jedi, and a shadowy mass descending on them. Blaster fire filled the air, but he ignored it. They could not kill him with such weaponry, and he did not doubt that her lithe dancer physique and amazing agility would keep Dia Olan safe. The pirates, however...

The Immortal had intended to keep to the plan of not killing anyone, and although his arrival at the small group of pirates was followed by screams and the snapping of bone, none of them would perish immediately from his attentions. Broken legs, shoulders torn from their sockets, concussions, slight internal hemorrhaging. Medical attention over the next few hours should prevent any casualties.

The immense from of the bounty hunter drew up to his full height as the last of the pirates fell. His head turned back towards Dia, as if about to let her know the coast was clear, when his eyes passed over the same view port she had noticed. There, hanging ominously in space, was the Ragnarok. He staggered back a step, as if the sight of the ship had dealt him a physical blow. "Natsuka?" he whispered faintly, voice filled with the absurdity of it. A dozen years hunting the vile Hutt, and now it had delivered itself to him. "NATSUKA!" he roared, striding towards the window, massive fists pounding against the plastisteel. "I'm coming for you, Hutt-slug. I'M COMING FOR YOU!"

What was happening? What was it about the bounty hunter that made the unexpectant rear its ugly head in the most serious of times? Dia watched in mute horror as the Immortal she knew came undone before her eyes, turning into a snarling, seething beast of hate. His fists vibrated loudly as he screamed his bestial roar and behind her she felt the courage of the crew fail, they scattered like a flock of birds before charging bulls. She felt the same vibration resonate within her body as she remained kneeling, not wanting to move and have that anger turned blindly on her.

Rayj – her lips formed the name, a silent whisper which no one but those departed drifting forever in the force embrace could hear. She hadn’t been conscious of when her mind had touched his, maybe in his moments of pure instinctual fury he’d somehow reached out to her. The moment was intense, her swallowed and felt her heart quake with a hidden anger she didn’t understand, her breathing she had to deliberately take into consideration otherwise it would have raced to match his own. They were entwined together for one sheer, brilliantly-terrifying moment before the connection faded the sound of a woman’s bright laugh haphazard, confusing, echoing in her mind.

“Rayj” She liked the way her tongue caressed his name, the sound as it rolled off it but that had to be put aside now. Indeed if he lived up to his namesake he’d more than likely turn his darkness of her and swallow her whole like he’d gone to others of her ilk. “Immortal.” She corrected herself as she rose to her full height, unfolding from the floor like a flower blooming and reaching for the sunshine. She was undeniably beautiful in the flickering light of her weapon, a pure Jedi Knight, commanding yet clearly holding back but was it out of fear or respect for the man before her?

“There is no emotion. There is no passion. There is no chaos.”

She spoke slowly, letting each word of the fractured code find a life of its own in the gloom. She wasn’t smiling now, her eyes spoke of sadness and sympathy but still a steely determination. “You cannot help anyone in anger. Find your peace, whatever it may be. You’re still needed today in this place, I need you.” She turned her eyes to the bridge doors again, not sure what she should expect. Maybe her words would snap him back to the moment, maybe they’d give him some solace or maybe he’d think she was mocking his pain like so many before often mistook the codes recital as doing.

Sadly she didn't have the time to find out, could he see how it pained her to walk away from him, to take those last few steps and begin to hack the door of the bridge to gain entrance. Her final words still lingering between them in the air, I need you. Please. Help me.

The fire of his rage burned, and it was a good burning. Over a dozen years he had hunted the vile slug that had been responsible for the death of his wife, and now it was within his grasp. He roared impotently as his fists beat against the plastisteel, letting the hatred wash over him. Oh, the Hutt would perish; slowly and painfully. Rayj would enjoy squeezing the life out of the bloated sac of fat with his bare hands! But, the Hutt was over on his own ship, and the Immortal was here, now. He would need a way across, and while he could survive the harsh vacuum of space, it was always a risk to take. No, there would be better ways that he could find, better vessels for his vengeance.

"I need you."

He turned slowly towards the Jedi knight, as she made her way towards the bridge. She needed him? She was confident, powerful, skilled. She did not need the bounty hunter to protect her, or to retake the ship. No, it was something else, something deeper, that made her say that. Something that, if the Gen'Dai were to look carefully, would be mirrored in his own emotions. She needed him, just as he needed her. He would take his vengeance on the Hutt, but she was right in her own way. It was not the time for righteous anger, it was the time for the hunt, the time for battle. He needed to control himself, if he was going to take his revenge. He slipped a communicator hidden in the folds of his body into his hand, relaying quick instructions to his droid. His ship, and his armor, would be within his reach soon. And until then...

"My turn," he whispered, his voice dripping malice. These horrible worms that worked for the Hutt were of no consequence. They were less than nothing. He had played her game long enough, and now it was time to play his way. He would not go in to kill them all, but he was no longer holding back. He would break them all, one by one, until they confirmed that Natsuka was on the ship, and then he would break the rest for the sport of it.

As soon as Dia felt the Immortal at her back once more she simultaneously felt relief and a great sadness. The Force whispered to her, telling her to stay on guard. There was nothing familiar about the being who stood by her now as she flicked her gaze to him as she tinkered with the controls. Their ‘game’ clearly no longer mattered, her presence or words wouldn’t amuse him anymore. He was deadly, lethal - this was an Immortal on the hunt.

Dia let her eyes drop and forced her mind to adjust to the change, he was someone she couldn’t count on any longer and had to be considered as much of a threat as the pirates. Later in the piracy of her own chambers she would allow herself to fully lament the loss but for now she had a duty to uphold. He’d shown he had a careless regard for life and now the tables had turned on her, Dia was sworn to protect the pirates from a far greater threat then they imagined possible on the ship just as much as she had to protect the crew and guests. It was like the Hutt on Nar Shadaar all over again and Dia silently wondered if that was the way it always was going to be with him. She was a Jedi sworn to protect, he an assassin sworn to kill – they’d be constantly at odds and the thought made her sad for some unrealised reason.

The moment passed and the doors finally hissed, Dia knew she’d have to disable as many as she could before he got to them. They’d entered a new, unhappy game of who was the faster. She took her only advantage and moved before him, slipping her lithe body through the small opening as the door opened. His bulky frame meant he’d only had to wait one second longer but it would be enough. She pulled deeply at the force to aid her movements and danced faster then he’d ever seen her between the pirates as they swung various weapons her way in surprise. Four, five, six fell unconscious to her feet as she finally stood protectively before the hostage Captain, her own weapon humming with the power of the Force.

She lowered her chin a touch as she turned her gaze towards the Immortal who was carving his own bloody path. Her voice dropped as she held out a hand, battling her emotions down into a tiny ball and try to influence his mind with the force. “You will leave this ship.” Her eyes shone but her fingers trembled slightly and not from the effort of trying to influence him, rather she couldn’t stand to see him like this any longer. She’d asked him to stay and now she wanted him gone, gone so she could preserve the memory of the man she’d met and grew to admire. Not this wanton beast, calculating and cold in its purpose. The bridge was hers and she repeated her command, the break in her voice only perceivable to those who knew her well. Was this the last time she would see the Immortal, her lips flickered up in an attempt to give him one last trademark smile, “Leave this ship.”

Rage. In this moment, it gave him purpose. It gave him strength. It tore away his inhibitions. The game had faded away in a haze of red, replaced only by the need to tear the Hutt that he blamed for the death of his wife to pieces. The pirates fell before his might like wet dolls tossed around by an angry child. Joints were torn from sockets, bones shattered, muscles bruised. He no longer cared if his victims lived or died, while that vile monster was so near by. Who knew if the Jedi could feel his thoughts now that he held no control over them? He was far too gone to care.

When she turned to him, he held one of the pirates in both of his mighty hands, about to tear the mans arms from his body. His eyes met hers, and he heard her words, clear as day. She tried? His eyes slowly blinked, as they focused in on her. She dared to try such a trick on him? If the Jedi could twist his will, he would never have been able to defeat any of them. His will was as iron, carrying him through several centuries of life. He dropped the pirate as he stepped towards her slowly. "You...  You dare?"

Would he have been able to take her then? He did not know. He was the Immortal, he was fast, and so much stronger than her. But she had the Force on her side, and he lacked his weapons and armor. In the end, it was a moot point. Her voice had cut through the red haze that had descended. He still wanted to destroy the Hutt, but he was thinking clearly now. He was, once more, in control of himself. His eyes remained locked on hers, his stance, ready for combat. Where did they go from here? He was not sure.

If Dia knew fear she did not show it, her jaw remained locked with grim determination even as she felt the Force fail her. As he moved towards her she shifted her body silently assuming a battle stance and as the silence descended over them only the constant hum of her lightsaber could be heard. She had been a fool to ever allow this being to touch her, to get under her skin and caress the temptation of her heart. Dia wasn't normally the soft touch among the Jedi. She did her duty well without launching into great crusades to reform the wicked which stood in her path. Those kinds of illusions for were for the more romantic among the order, whose rose-tinted glasses were ever a fixture over their eyes.

A clarity had fallen across his gaze as it met hers but it had come too little, too late. If she allowed herself to be truthful she’s recognise that oddly his rage had left her feeling somewhat betrayed. He’d turned his back on her needs for the culprits to remain unharmed and she was a little colder towards his own for it. Whatever battle he was fighting within himself, whatever reason he’d reached boiling point here in the dead of space was not her concern. He was a bounty hunter, she a Jedi – it was time for their lives to part once more.

“I will fight you, if I have too.”

A part of her whispered in the back of her mind that her resolution was a lie, if he’d ask her to go with him now the ship had been reclaimed she consider saying yes. She only wanted him to be gone because she felt spurned but the attraction was still there as intense and thrumming since they first set eyes on one another. He did not need to become aware of those kinks in her resolve though and quite frankly neither did she, as her gaze narrowed a touch. The smell of blood finally reached her and her gaze soften just barely, something sadder glinting out from behind her determination. So many lives had been needlessly lost, snuffed from the web of life what was the force. He’d done this. He’d done this…

“Leave. This. Ship.”

Battle was what he had known for over a thousand years. He lacked his armor, and his weapons, but he was still the Immortal. He doubted she was able to kill him, even if she could gather the conviction, and eventually he would wear her down. If it came to battle, it might take him time, but he would be victorious. She could not kill him. But, could he kill her? The Jedi had touched something deep within the bounty hunter, and he could no longer deny that. She had awoken feelings that had long laid dormant within him, bringing excitement, desire and hope back into his life. Could he crush that?

In the end, he decided he could not. His long robed whirled as he spun away from the Jedi, and his long legs carried him on swift, powerful strides towards the exit. Natsuka's ship was already pulling away, somehow the Hutt knew his incursion had failed. Hope dwelled within him that if he could get to his ship fast enough, Natsuka would not escape, and he let that hope live, no matter how unlikely it was. Sometimes, hope was important.

He would not forget the little Jedi, however. Beautiful Dia Olan. He would be finding her again some time, he knew, and again. After all, he had forever.
