Silence and Death Empty
PostSubject: Silence and Death   Silence and Death I_icon_minitimeSun Feb 19, 2012 1:06 am

There was nothing quite like the hum of a lightsaber as it engaged in battle, the sound was especially pleasing when it when it fizzed and cracked against another weapon of its kind. Voletta’s eyes were closed but few would have been able to distinguish it in the gloom of her room and behind the black leather of the mask which always adorned her face, stark in comparison to her ivory skin.

From the other side of the closed doors a fierce battle was taking place. Fierce not because of the opponents were particularly skilled or threatening but because the one battling them radiated an intense hatred which could felt tangibly on her face even sealed in her chambers.

Behind her eyelids she saw shadows writhing, figures dancing with death without ever knowing it. It had been like that on Hoth, the jedi thought they were so clever setting up an academy on the ice world - that was until she arrived. The mask shifted against her skin as an unconscious smile tugged at the corners of her mouth; once again it was the sounds that stayed the most vivid. The hiss of hydraulics as her ship landed and the bay doors opened, then that familiar ignition of her lightsaber and the shouts of recognition, followed by dozens of other weapons charging soon after. The sounds of flesh being cleaved and the cries – oh, the cries… of pain, of mercy, begging, condemning… joining in unison, praising the spectre of death which took them all, one by one until silence reigned supreme once more. It didn’t rule for long though, she saw to that – after the final death rattle quavered she’d gone to work, a diligent student as always. Cleans walls soon splattered with dead blood, cooling on her hands and the ornate dagger she held within them….

Silence, returning from the world of memories she opened her eyes as her old ally made itself known once more and then the unmistakable thud, thud, thud as the slain hit the floor. A shadow of a smile flickered across her bloodless lips, a shadow of a lamentation, it had been too brief to truly savour but then it always was.

A lone figure stood triumph amongst the fallen and then turned to her door, it wasn’t locked, it never had been. A shaft of light struck her from the outside hall and the metallic tang of blood assailed her senses. He stood reflected in her dark eyes, she heard his heart pounding and it beat perfectly in time with her own. Then another sound broke the silence, a voice she rarely used…

“You are progressing well. My apprentice...”

He could feel them. They crawled over and through the temple like insects, small and insignificant before him. His shattered body was growing stronger, fuelled by the hatred that pumped through his veins like blood. Each one he had found, and each one he had struck down. Not for glory, not for his Master, but entirely because of bitter hatred. Their bodies were not broken like his own, they had their own pasts, their own memories; so many things that he lacked.

The last of them had fallen, silence lingering through the halls. And within the silence, his stolen memories danced within his mind; planets he had never visited and lovers he had never touched, foods he had never tasted and experiences he had never even considered, children he had never sired and families whose love he would never know. Like ghostly afterimages, they haunted him relentlessly.

As always, the Force was with him, and he had bent it to his will unwillingly. He was looking at her, even through the intervening door, and she could just as easily see and feel him. Their hearts singing to the same beat, their minds to the same purpose. Had he opened the door, or had she? He could no longer tell where one ended, and the other began.

And then she spoke. He fell to one frail knee quickly, a task he could not have managed even a month ago. “Your words are kind, my Master.” Despite his frail body, the voice was strong and filled with the hatred that provided him so much strength.

It hadn’t been a compliment she voiced, it had been fact. This being she found floating in a tube, on the brink of death from the amount of Midi-chlorians they had packed into his cells was stronger and better at wielding the Force then most of the advanced apprentices in the temple. It had been only a month but he had mastered abilities that took most years to control. A smile flickered across her lips at the thought of unleashing him upon an unsuspecting galaxy, in fact, she rarely needed to lift a hand anymore against those apprentices who would have her dead – The Herald was eager to follow her every command. She believed absolutely in her control over him, what he felt for her was greater then love and obsession and through that she could make him shift worlds. In the beginning she needed to address him, verbally instruct him to carve a path through those which stood in her way but that soon gave way to a slight move of her hand or a flick of her eyes but now they had no need for words. Her was homed in on her to the extent that he could have replaced her own instincts and she’d never notice.

She got to her feet with a fluidly she knew would cut him to the bone with envy, “Your hatred of them is making you strong.” As she turned from him a faint smile graced her lips, a reward for his service. She moved with a grace and poise which seemed unbefitting for a Sith, almost as if she’d been raised in the highest ranks of society. Since moving into the room she’d done little in the way of decorating it – on her right was a simple bed and her left a window which was always drawn closed. She had added only one other item to the room, sitting on a bare shelf was an intricately carved, small wooden box barely big enough to hold her lightsaber. It didn’t appear to have any lock or mechanism to guard against prying eyes. She simply let her nimble fingers caress it as she opened in with a touch so intimate it would have made the blackest of Sith desire to feel it, just once upon their own flesh. Perhaps The Herald caught a glimpse of the strange collection of things held within, a feather, a jewelled ring, an ornate dagger before she withdraw her lightsaber and snapped the lid shut once more hiding her secrets from him in an almost cruel manner.

As she turned to face him once more her expression was impassive as always but her eyes glinted with something darker, her usual look she bestowed on him when she allowed him to view her touching the object, she was daring him to ask despite the obvious harsh consequences it would bring him. Her movements were slow as she knelt once more before him, crossing her hands which lightly held her weapon with the same intimate touch she normally reserved for her Pandora's box. Being so in tune with her as he was, she was sure he’d noticed her manner was somewhat changed then normal. The manner in which she addressed him next seemed playful at first but was somehow menacing, yet sensual. The temperature in the room seemed to drop as her gaze met his own.

“Recite for me, the Jedi code.”

"Recite for me, the Jedi code."

She was playing a game with him? His head tilted slowly, his eyes not daring to leave her, as he forced himself back to standing. The joint he had knelt upon pained him now, but the pain only served to heighten his rage, his strength. There was more to what she was asking than the code, but could he piece together what she wanted before she ran out of patience? It would not do, to leave her waiting for an answer. Did he even know the Jedi code? Pieces of the information sung to him from stolen memories, waiting to be pieced together.

"There is no..." His voice falters on the lie. How could their be no emotion, when it is the emotion that draws out strength? The mother fearing for her child, the berserk mynock lashing out in its rage, his own hands crushing the life out of those he hated without even touching them. This was strength, this was power, not some droid-like calm. "Apologies, my Master. The lies taint my mind, and taste foul upon my tongue as I speak them." Even before he had finished speaking, he knew this was not the answer she was seeking, and was prepared to be punished. Every time she punished him, his rage burned brighter still. Success or failure, he became more powerful either way.

A slender eyebrow arched from under her mask but the sith remained silent as her apprentice struggled over the Jedi code and then declared it to be a foul lie. She knew he expected to be punished but then what was the fun of punishment if they knew it was coming, besides, his answer had done more in the way to intrigue her then provoke her beastly anger. “Interesting…” it seemed that was to be her only reply to his answer for her tone appeared calm and she lowered her gaze, silken hair falling to cover her eyes and for a long time she remained still almost as if she’d forgotten his presence within her chambers altogether.

An uncomfortable silence descended. She was thinking about the Jedi, about the times she had heard them speaking their Code to her – the power she felt in defying it or threw it back in their faces as they breathed their last. There was power in words. When she spoke next her tone was soft, yet conveyed an unshakable will and underlying power as it broke the silence, “There is no emotion, there is peace.”

She stood fluidly once more and turned from him, her body language conveyed not anger but rather mild disappointment which perhaps stung even more then any physical punishment she could inflict on his already tortured body.

"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force."

Her hair rippled once more as she turned her face to look at him over her shoulder, “Are these words so meaningless to us, just because we are sith…?” She was testing him again, baiting him as her fingers ran sensually up and down the length of her lightsaber hilt. Her tone changed but it was hard to tell whether it was curiosity or scorn which coloured it so, “Tell me then, what is the Sith Code and how does it enrich you?”

"Nwûl tash.
Dzwol shâsotkun.
Shâsotjontû châtsatul nu tyûk.
Tyûkjontû châtsatul nu midwan.
Midwanjontû châtsatul nu asha.
Ashajontû kotswinot itsu nuyak.
Wonoksh Qyâsik nun."

The code of the ancient Sith, spoken in their tongue. Had the Herald known the Sith language before coming to this place, or was it another piece of the puzzle that the Force had shared with him? He looked to his hand, and watched his three fingers flexing. So much information, so much of it stolen, each piece jostling for a place in his mind. But She was with him, conversing with him. Sometimes with Her everything became so clear, and yet sometimes it was that much worse.

"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me."

Will be notice I wrote, penis, here.

Words. Words he knew as well as any other he spoke now. The words flowed through him just as the Force did. "The words are true. The meaning evident. But the wisdom, deeper. The context is kept vague. Passion, strength, power. To each of us it is different, but the same. We find our own path to it.
